Tinubu tasked on level-playing field for all candidates

President Bola Tinubu has been encouraged to resist the temptation to sway the Edo State governorship race in favour of any contender.

Mr Felix Oni, the Coordinator of Eghosa Grammar School Old Boys Vanguard for the People’s Democratic Party candidates, Dr Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie, made the call over the weekend.

Speaking at a Free Medical Outreach organized by the group in Ehor Ward 1 Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, Oni stated that for the President to cement his legacy, he should let the people of the state to choose who governs them.

Oni stated, “To cement your legacy and assure a positive place in history, avoid undermining the election process. Avoid the temptation to manipulate the Edo State gubernatorial election in favor of any party’s candidate who lacks competence and aptitude when compared to others known to everyone regardless of party.

“A free and fair election in Edo State that prioritizes the people’s decision will be a big accomplishment for your administration. The local and worldwide populations will recognize and applaud you for it.”

Oni stated that the people of the state would appreciate it if democratic ideals were kept, people’s wills honored, and a culture of justice and transparency developed.

“By doing so, you will display leadership and leave a lasting legacy. Major in the majors, Mr. President, and allow the people’s voices be heard,” he said.
