Layla Ali Othman, a businesswoman and the spouse of Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State, has responded to those who have criticized her husband for giving their daughter Aisha a brand-new SUV as a graduation present from secondary school.
Social media users have responded differently to the legislator’s extravagant gesture; many have criticized him for giving the adolescent an expensive car in the middle of Nigeria’s present financial difficulties.
However, Layla, Aisha’s stepmother and one of Gagdi’s wives, stated that they did not use monies designated for their people or constituency money to purchase the car.
“You should check your facts before sharing information. This model is from 2021. Yes, it’s just as expensive, and yes, we are happy with our child for doing so well in school,” the mother wrote.
“Yes, we can afford it, which is why we got her a car. However, neither constituency funds nor any other publicly funded money were used to purchase the vehicle. If you are not convinced, please dispute with your forefathers.
