Taraba governor’s sister, allegedly shot by police escort, dies.

Dr. Agbu Kefas, Taraba State Governor, is in grief following the untimely loss of his younger sister, Atsi Kefas.

A close family source verified to our correspondent that she died at night in Abuja, days after being shot during a gunman attack on her vehicle on the Wukari-Kente route in Taraba State’s Wukari Local Government Area.

A police escort, reportedly responding to the attack, mistakenly discharged a pistol, fatally injuring her in the stomach.

“It is awful that we lost her last night. “We are devastated by this tragic event,” a family source told our correspondent over the phone.

The late Atsi Kefas was greatly regarded for her modesty and kindness. Friends, family, and well-wishers have been pouring in their condolences via social media.

Kelvin Kuffi, a social media user, commented in the WhatsApp group Agbu Kefas Progress Info to grieve her death, saying, “Atsi Kefas has been a dear friend for over two decades. Our bond blossomed during our diploma studies at Taraba State Polytechnic in Wukari. She was humble, sacrificial, and enjoyable to be around.”

Murtala Atumba also conveyed his condolences, saying, “It’s very terrible. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to His Excellency, the Governor, the First Family, and all mourning. May the Lord comfort everyone during this tough time.

When approached, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Digital Communication, declined to comment, saying, “I believe family sources are in the best position to discuss the governor’s sister’s passing.”

There has been no official word from the state administration or the family regarding the death and burial preparations.
