FIFA ranking: Super Falcons continue to be ranked first in Africa and 36th overall.

The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, are still ranked 36th in the world according to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association’s most recent rankings.

The ranking, which was made public on Friday, August 16, 2024, also showed that the Falcons were still the best women’s football team in Africa.

This rating comes after their lackluster showing in the Women’s Summer Olympics football competition that was held in Paris, France, lately. The Falcons finished last in Group C after losing three straight games—1-0 to Brazil, 1-0 to Spain, and a crushing 3-1 loss to Japan—and were unable to advance to the semifinals.

In the African rankings, South Africa (ranked 50th), Morocco (ranked 59th), Zambia (ranked 62nd), and Ghana (ranked 66th) come behind Nigeria.

The top 10 women’s football teams in the world, according to the latest FIFA ranking, are:

United States of America
England
Spain
Germany
Sweden
Canada
Japan
Brazil
Korea DPR
France
