In Tumu Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State, a 45-year-old man named Mohammed Yaya is accused of defiling a 10-year-old girl after offering her N150 on two separate occasions.
This was revealed on Friday at the command’s Gombe headquarters during the parading of suspects by Police Public Relations Officer ASP Buhari Abdullahi.
Abdullahi claimed that after admitting to the crime, the wild guy gave the girl N100 and N5o, respectively.
He declared, “The suspect had canal knowledge with the 10-year-old girl that he lured into his house on May 27, 2024. At the outset of the preliminary investigation, the suspect admitted to performing the act twice. He revealed that he gave her 50 and 100 naira, in that order. The matter is being looked into, and charges will soon be brought against the culprit.
The head of police added that an eight-year-old girl in Akko was allegedly raped by a 13-year-old juvenile who was also taken into custody.
He claimed that the eight-year-old girl was persuaded by the suspect to a desolate route where he had free reign.
He stated that a formal complaint was received at Akko Division on May 24, 2024, alleging that on May 22, 2024, the suspect had knowledge of the whereabouts of an eight-year-old girl and had dragged her to a corner. An investigation is being conducted into the case.
In a similar vein, Usman Husseini, an 18-year-old from the Hammadu Kafi quarters of Gombe, was paraded by Abdullahi. It was said that Husseini had violated a juvenile with his finger.
“One Musa Saleh of the Hammadu-kafi quarters in Gombe filed an official complaint on May 26, 2024, alleging that Husseini had dragged his 4-year-old daughter to a spot close to his home and had poked her in the private area with his finger.
Detectives from Pantami Division responded quickly to the site after receiving the complaint, apprehending the mentioned suspect and transporting the victim to a specialist for a medical checkup. According to Abdullahi, the case is now being investigated and will be brought before the court when it is finished.
Speaking about how the state’s child protection program is being implemented, Abdullahi said “Issue of rape has serious attention of government. The Department of Public Prosecutions is taking it up on itself to tackle rape and other forms of abuses.”
