It has been in public domain that a Lexus SUV LX570 belonging to Comrade Prince Kpokpogri was taken forcefully from his residence shortly after their romantic relationship went sour. This incident was reported by Kpokpogri through his lawyers, CEDARWALL AND PARTNERS to the FCIID Area 10, Abuja on 15th August, 2021. Rather than allow Federal Intelligence Bureau (FIB), a unit of FCIID to investigate the petition, Tonto Dikeh manipulated transfer of the case file to the Commissioner of Police (Administration) with assistance of the DIG Joseph Egbunike.
As at Saturday, 16th October, 2021 the Lexus SUV LX570 was discovered parked at VVIP area of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, ostensibly to hide it from Kpokpogri. Upon attempting to recover the Lexus car on Saturday night with the help of Maitama Police Command it was discovered that the key has been reprogrammed. Prince Kpokpogri placed surveillance around the car and it was chain- locked by the Management of Transcorp.
Events turned around when Tonto Dikeh came with some persons at about 12am to drive the car away to an unknown destination. This attempt was resisted by the driver to Prince Kpokpogri who acted swiftly to block the Lexus from moving. At a point the Lexus car was driven alongside another Mercedes Benz belonging to Kpokpogri to the FCIID. Parties wrote statements under caution after which they were asked to wait for DIG for interview and possible finding as to who truly owns the Lexus car.
In what looked like a premeditated arrangement to humiliate and judge Kpokpogri in isolation, the DIG ordered in very harsh words that lawyers and sureties to Kpokpogri should quit his office while the interview went on. After about thirty minutes, Prince Kpokpogri came out screaming that “DIG has been compromised by Tonto Dikeh” and that he was not even allowed to speak during the interview. Kpokpogri was ordered to be detained at the order of the DIG without fair hearing as guaranteed under Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution.
All efforts to find out reasons why the politician, entrepreneur cum publisher was detained alongside his driver proved abortive. The Police Officers present only mustered to lawyers and other friends of Kpokpogri present that the decision to detain him came from the DIG and there is nothing anybody can do. The question that journalists and members of the public are now asking is “Does the Lexus SUV LX570 belong to Prince Kpokpogri or Tonto Dikeh?”
