Obi offers to meet the bail terms for Farotimi.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023, has vowed to satisfy human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi’s bail terms.

An Ekiti Magistrate Court granted Farotimi bail in a slander case against Afe Babalola.

The bail requirements include a N30 million bond, two sureties (one of whom must own a home), relinquishing his passport, and refusing to give media interviews.

Tanko Yunusa, a former spokesperson for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, revealed the decision in a message posted to his X account on Friday.

Yunusa explained that Obi, as a proponent of the rule of law, wanted the situation settled in a way that upheld legal procedures and benefited all parties involved.

“I conferred with His Excellency Peter Obi, the Obedient Movement’s leader. As a supporter of the rule of law, due process, and order, he offered to accept Dele Farotimi on the bail conditions,” Yunusa stated.

He also expressed Obi’s gratitude to the judges and those involved. “His concern is that the problem be resolved in the best interests of all parties, including our legal system. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved,” Yunusa stated.
