I most respectfully crave your indulgence to bring to the fore the intricacies and intrigues surrounding the coronation of a new ADAH EBEKWARRA. In the words of Martin Luther king Jr, “everyone is dead the very moment we stay silence on salient issue that is a scourge to mankind”
It is against the above backdrop I make bold to state that the coronation exercise was sacrilegious and grossly aberrational, and alien to Bekwarra customs and traditions by way of retrospective analysis.
The action grossly contradicts the precepts and tenets of the People’s tradition. I’m one out of many diasporian Bekwarra meaningful sons and daughters whom are grievously disgruntled and embittered with the sudden adulteration of our cultural values and heritage by political saboteurs. I think at this point Bekwarra needs to be sanctified and cleansed from the trending obnoxious practises by unscrupulous elements in the community. Our land has been desecrated by political conspirators and saboteurs who care less about Her and the People. My question is when has the title of ADAH EBEKWARRA become a staff of authority, what then is the place of the Paramount Ruler now that his office has been usurped by political actors? May be we should refer to Obolo Po of Ugep, Obong of Calabar, Tor Tiv of Benue or Ooni of Ife and many others who know the worth of their offices.
It might interest us to know that Late Chief Linus Okom OON who was the original bearer diligently served his people and earned the respect of the Bekwarra people considering his indelible mark and milestone on the plaque of time. Just barely a year after his demise, his hard earned image has been bastardized by conspirators of sabotage who have no regards for him. This wld hv been an exclusive reserve of him to immortalize his outstanding legacies. It is indeed shameful and disgraceful.It is nothing but a complete cultural decadence and must be resisted.
