United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has teamed up with Mastercard to launch a commemorative debit card in honor of UBA’s 75th anniversary.
This agreement seeks to commemorate UBA’s long-standing client relationships and improve their banking experience by providing a variety of offers and discounts across numerous platforms.
Oliver Alawuba, UBA’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, stated at the launch that the card includes specific incentives geared at rewarding customers, such as a limited 25% discount on Jumia purchases and $75 cashback on AliExpress sales.
He noted that this effort represents UBA and Mastercard’s shared objective of empowering Africans by improving customer experience through secure and quick transactions.
“This new card represents the deepening of our relationship and our shared mission to empower millions of Nigerians and Africans, by providing them with access to secure transactions and new opportunities across the continent,” Alawuba told the media.
The GMD also announced the bank’s ambitions to launch similar products across all of its subsidiaries. “We are proud of this collaboration, and we are confident that Mastercard’s role in Africa will only grow stronger in the coming years,” the CEO said.
