Breaking: FIRS accuses company of evading taxes

 

The Federal Government has charged Well Property Development Company Limited with six counts of tax evasion in an effort to improve tax compliance.

On behalf of the government, the Federal Inland Revenue Service filed the lawsuit, charging the business with understating tax filings, making a false claim about its income, and neglecting to withhold and pay taxes.

This is based on a document that our correspondent exclusively acquired on Sunday.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria is named as the plaintiff in the lawsuit, and nine other people are named as defendants along with Wells Property Development Company Limited.

The corporation was charged with a number of offenses, including falsely declaring earnings and understating tax returns while providing our taxable services.

The suit is dated June 21, 2024, and is designated FHC/ABJ/CR/293/2024.
